Frankie Cocozza: 'If the boos were louder than cheers, I would boo myself as well'

Former X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza has opened up about his decision to continue with a career in music after dealing with a negative reception from the public.

Speaking to Sugarscape, he explained that being part of a TV vocal talent show was a tough wake-up call that he often couldn't face sober and to cope with the pressure of putting himself out there in such a vulnerable position he even booed himself at gigs:

"I knew it was going to be people booing, but I didn't realise how nasty it was going to be. I had to be pissed to get up on stage. If the boos were outdoing the cheers, I'd literally boo down the mic as loud as I could, just being an idiot. Just agreeing with them, like, 'Yeah alright, you've every right to boo me. I'll boo with you'."

Referring to his new material, namely The Motorcycle EP, Cocozza added that the support from his true fans spurred him on to record and release a project:

"I just wanted to make music, because believe it or not there were still people supporting me after everything that went down. I got introduced to a few people. I got new management, and said I wanted to make music. I didn't want to attempt to be in the charts, I was doing it because there were a decent amount of young people who wanted to listen to it."
