Union J axe gigs after George Shelley gets hurt

Former X Factor contestants Union J have been forced to cancel a series of live performances that were due to take place this week after one of the members hurt himself in an accident.

The lads, who recently revealed that they have the potential to be bigger than heartthrobs One Direction, were due to play a couple of gigs in Ireland this week, but singer George Shelley took to his official Twitter page to inform fans that the events had been pulled because he got injured:

"So sorry to everyone in Ireland. I have had an accident so we won't be able to perform tomorrow so our gigs have been pulled. Sorry... I'm fine (I) just had an accident and won't be able to perform tomorrow, I will be fine in a week or so."

Blair Dreelan, the band's manager, issued a statement to reassure Union J's followers that nothing serious had happened to Shelley and confirmed that rescheduled shows will be announced in due course:

"To all those asking George is fine, just a small accident. Won't be performing at the show tmrw (tomorrow), but will be back in a week or so!... Guys it's not serious, please do not worry, just a small accident! George will be fine and back in action real soon! Shows to be rescheduled."

Fellow band member Josh also tweeted his well-wishes to Shelley, adding: "Glad george is recovering :) sorry once again derry tonight..we will come and reschedule as soon as we can...hope you all understand! Josh x"
