Beyoncé's bandmate Michelle Williams: 'Whitney Houston lip-synched the national anthem'

Destiny's Child songstress Michelle Williams has called for people to lay off from criticizing Beyoncé after it was reported that she may have mimed her way through the inaugural performance of 'The Star Spangled Banner'.

The US Marine Corps Band revealed that Beyoncé sang over a pre-recorded vocal and lip-synched to the song, but today (January 23) a group of sound production experts disputed their claims and gave supporting evidence, but no official comments have been made as of yet regarding the issue.

Despite this, Williams told Entertainment Tonight that it shouldn't be a big deal because everyone knows that the 'Halo' hitmaker is more than capable of singing live and even her idol, Whitney Houston, once mimed the national anthem so it is acceptable:

"I will say this, it's not the first or the last time that someone has had to lip-synch... My greatest singer of all time, Whitney Houston, it came to light that her anthem was in fact lip-synched."

"With big crowds and echoes, you know when it's a big historical moment, you don't want any room for any mistakes, so I can understand why it was done."
