Laura Whitmore, blonde bombshell and MTV presenter, has admitted that interviewing Britney Spears was a memorable event in her career because of how "sad" the pop icon seemed.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Whitmore (pictured left) explained that there was something about the 'Womanizer' singer's demeanour that seemed troubled and has stuck with her ever since their meeting a few years ago:

"I interviewed Britney Spears before and she’s the sweetest girl, she was really lovely but she was so sad behind the eyes. There was something about her, I wanted to take her for a cup of tea and a chat. I wasn’t disappointed with her, I just felt sad for her.”

When asked if she was let down by the meeting with Spears, she added: "Not so much disappointed but sometimes you interview someone at the end of the day when they’ve been doing junkets and they tired.”

Earlier this week, Foo Fighters frontman also picked on Spears and described her as having "nothing behind her eyes anymore."
