Cliff Richard wants to sing with One Direction

Sir Cliff Richard has revealed his somewhat unlikely desire to duet with One Direction.

The two acts are on the opposing ends of the age spectrum but it seems the 72-year-old crooner is keen to team up with the 'Kiss You' quintet.

Richard told The Lady that whilst he has keenly observed One Direction's meteoric leap into stardom, he hadn't actually heard their music until recently.

However, he said that he now can put their name to their songs on the radio - and he is very impressed. The housewives' favourite said:

"It was fascinating watching the fast rise to fame of One Direction. For quite a while I didn't hear their music. Of course I may have heard something on the radio, but all too often nobody tells you what you have just listened to! There's been many a time when I would have bought a record, but didn't know who or what to ask for."

He added: "I've heard One Direction now, and think that each one of them has a terrific voice. So if they ever decide to do a duet I'm available, but not cheap!"
