Jake Bugg slams One Direction: "They are not rock stars"

Jake Bugg has slated One Direction and people who reckon they are rock stars.

The term has been loosely bandied about over the last year as the 'Kiss You' singers toured the globe and got up to good natured mischief on the road.

Their emphatic reception in America meanwhile created comparisons to the Beatles and their visits to the States in the 1960s.

Speaking to Shortlist, 18-year-old Bugg claimed that One Direction are "terrible" and nothing like rock stars. He said:

"Who the f**k is saying [they're the closest thing to rock stars we have these days]? Oh, I'm pretty sure they have a good laugh. But it's easy to, isn't it? When you don't have to write any songs."

The rising star added: "People [call them the new Beatles] because they broke America, but that don't mean a thing. I mean, [One Direction] must know that they're terrible. They must know...calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement. And people should stop making it."
