British footballer Joey Barton has hit out at Canadian teen sensation Justin Bieber after discovering the singer had over 35 million Twitter followers.

Last night (March 3), the sports star took to his own page and boasted about reaching the 2 million mark then revealed his shock and distaste at the fact that Bieber has so many more (tweets pictured below). He also asked his followers why Katy Perry has in excess of 33 million:

"Just been informed that little gimp @justinbieber has 35 million followers WTF! Put my bragging about 2 million right in its place... 35 million?!? What the f**king, f**k! He looks little a shaved little bird with earrings. This is a truly f**ked up world, if he's 'cool'."

"Thats has freaked me out a bit that. I can understand @ladygaga as she has some talent and endears herself to the weirdos... #littlemonsters. Katy Perry 30 odd mill. WTF! What does she even do nowadays...? This twitter top 50 followers, has thrown me massively..."

He then returned to the social networking site and added: "I'd rather flush my head down the toilet daily than be a 'Belieber'. He's a smack addiction waiting to happen. #macaulaycaulkinstyle."

When he was bombarded with abuse from Bieber fans around the world, he wrote: "Sick I mentioned the gizzard, that is Bieber. All the mutants that adore him are giving me all sorts of abuse here. F**k off. I don't care!"
