'Shine Ya Light' songstress Rita Ora has revealed that she once slept on a beach because she didn't have enough money to cover a hotel bill while on holiday.

The beauty told Australia's Kyle and Jackie O radio show that she was vacationing in Barcelona, Spain with her sister when they decided that to save a bit of money they would camp out on the sand and just sleep there rather than fork out for a room:

"I was on holiday in Barcelona when I was 17, with my older sister. I was on the beach and I actually had no money, so I slept on the beach for two nights!"

"I slept on top of my suitcase. But I had the best time! Even now I can stay in hotels, nothing can beat that experience on the beach. I made friends with everyone; there were a lot of people who were sleeping on the beach! I dug a little hole as my toilet, and there was my home!"

Meanwhile, the star is currently in Australia but has lost her voice and told her fans earlier today (March 5) that it is so bad she had to take herself to see a doctor: "Driving back from the doctors. Wish I was well enough to enjoy Brisbane with you all."
