Nicole Scherzinger has stated she didn't want to release her new album quickly whilst on last year's X Factor - despite the promotional opportunities that would have come with it.

The singer is releasing her second solo record later this year and the star has already preceded the album with the single 'Boomerang'.

Speaking to That Grape Juice, Scherzinger revealed that she nearly completed the album last year but decided to hold off on releasing the record.

This meant that the singer missed out on unleashing the album whilst she was a judge on the 2012 series of the X Factor - but she was happy to wait. The sultry star said:

"I thought it was finished a while ago until the New Year came with new experiences. I'm always growing. And you know what? I didn't rush the album to put it out during The X Factor like I could have."

Scherzinger added: ""I'm hoping the album comes out at the end of this year."
