Research shows that UK festivals are too expensive for youngsters

MSN UK has revealed that festivals in the UK are proving to be too expensive for a significant portion of the country's youngsters.

The company conducted research on the popular outdoor summer music events and found that 60% of 18-24-year-olds can't afford the rising costs, which include tickets, food, drinks, camping equipment and transport to and from the festivals.

It has been said that the average cost of attending a weekend festival in Great Britain will set music fans back a whopping £423.01. This conclusion has shown that the average age of the festival goer in the UK is now 35, which indicates an age group with more disposable income and higher earnings.

Scotland's T in the Park event attracts the oldest demographic, with attendees being around 37 years and seven months old. Glastonbury pulls in the second oldest crowd, with the average camper at 36 years and eight months.

Rock band Rolling Stones came out on top in the poll of who people were most looking forward to watching live and other acts who made the Top 10 of this year's festival line ups include Kings of Leon, The Killers, Rihanna and Eminem. Mumford & Sons, who only released their debut album in 2009, came in second place.
