Michael Jackson's mother testifies against AEG Live: 'They watched him waste away'

The King of Pop's mother, Katherine Jackson, gave evidence in the ongoing wrongful death trial against AEG Live this week and told the courtroom that the staff and her son's team sat back and watched him deteriorate.

Speaking to the jury, Jackson explained that Michael was 'wasting away' and no one stepped in to help: "They watched him waste away."

Her attorney read out extracts from emails sent between members of the crew that described her son's condition as 'increasingly frail' and 'too weak for proper tour rehearsals', and she became emotional after telling the room she should have been informed:

"They could have called me. He was asking me for his father. My grandson told me that his daddy was nervous and scared."

When asked if she was aware that her 'Thriller' icon son was abusing prescription medication, Jackson denied any knowledge of this behaviour: "I'm a mother, quite naturally he denied it. He wouldn't want me to think that."
