John Newman on his success: 'I never want to be big-headed'

Singer-songwriter John Newman has opened up about the success of his No.1 single, 'Love Me Again', and admitted that he won't let it go to his head.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy ahead of his performance at Bestival earlier today (September 6), the star explained that he is still of the small-town mentality and is happy to enjoy the moment while it lasts:

"It's mad - I still don't believe it. I think it's probably the best attitude to have. Because I'm still quite small-minded and being from a small town, it would blow my mind if I took it all in. I never want to be a big-headed or an egotistical character. I think you've got to avoid that."

"It's mad and crazy, but I still want more though! There's a difference between being big-headed and walking around going, 'Boom, I've got a number one', and turning around and saying, 'That's cool, I want another one'."

He added that he would love for his self-titled debut album, which is due to be released on October 7, to go to No.1 as well: "I constantly want more. I want the album to go to number one. It's a great thought; the music I love making becoming successful."
