James Arthur on Matt Cardle: "I think he does hate me"

James Arthur has spoken about his rift with Matt Cardle, believing that the X Factor 2010 winner "hates him".

The two acts have had something of a frosty relationship over the last year after Arthur said that all of the previous male X Factor winners haven't been successful.

Cardle raised the subject again in a new interview with the Mirror, saying that Arthur is "angry" and "arrogant".

The X Factor 2012 winner has now been asked by Real Radio Scotland if he thinks Cardle "hates him", to which Arthur said:

"I think he does hate me...I agree it was pretty offensive what I said, if you're a male X Factor ex-winner. I was asked, 'Why do you think the male X Factor winners haven't been successful in the past?'. And I said, 'Because obviously the body of work that they've brought out wasn't good enough' and that was it."

He continued: "He's insulted me, he's insulted my mum, my dad, my cat, every producer that's ever worked on any song I've ever done. He said I've took it right down to the playground, like I was pulling his hair or something, it was like, 'Mate you need to deflate your ego slightly'. He dissed The X Factor and that's his platform."

When asked if he would have Cardle on tour with him as support, Arthur concluded: "I'd rather my fans were awake when I came on, that's the only problem."
