Spice Girl's star Melanie C has expressed her excitement at being nominated for a prize at the 2012 Whatsonstage.com awards.

The singer and actress has been acknowledged in the Best Supporting Actress in a Musical category for her role as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and she took to her official Twitter page earlier this afternoon (December 7) to tell her fans the exciting news:

"Wow! I've made the shortlist of nominees for http://awards.whatsonstage.com/awards/vote?query=vote … #chuffedtobits."

Voting for the awards opened today and the winners will be announced at a ceremony that will take place at the West End's Palace Theatre in February 2013.
