Pop songstress Miley Cyrus insists she is the "hardest-working person" around, even though she likes to party.

The hitmaker's newest single 'We Can't Stop' is taken from her upcoming fourth studio album and centres around the themes of dancing and drinking.

Cyrus says even though she likes to enjoy herself, she always knuckles down to business when she has to.

Speaking to MTV News she explained: "People think of me as a party animal, which I am: a self-proclaimed party animal! But I also am the hardest-working person you'll ever know."

Cyrus became a household name thanks to her starring role in Disney's Hannah Montana franchise. She has since had an image turnaround which she hopes people can appreciate.

She said: "Moms, they remember their daughters watching [Hannah Montana], and kids remember watching the show, but that's not who they think I am.

She continued: "I've done so much on my own, like putting out my twerk video... the biggest thing people say to me is, 'I love that you don't care what people think.' And I don't; I can take all the constructive criticism in the world, and... Of course I want people to love my music, but at the end of the day, I make music for me. I make music because I love it and I put good energy into it, so it will be all good."

Of her upcoming as-yet-untitled album, Cyrus said: "I feel like I can really be myself. I really have more of a connection of who I am, and I feel like I can maybe express that more in my music now."
