Miley Cyrus clarifies misheard lyrics: 'I don't sing about drugs, I sing my name'

Former Disney starlet Miley Cyrus has addressed some misheard lyrics in her song, 'We Can't Stop', that set fans' tongues wagging shortly after it was released.

The track hears the beauty sing the line, 'dancing with Miley', but the way she articulates her name sounds a little similar to 'molly', which is the street term for ecstasy and led people to question if she was describing a drug-fuelled night out.

Speaking to the Rolling Stone, Cyrus confessed that listeners can rest assured that she doesn't reference the drug in the cut and simply sings about enjoying a party: "I have an accent! So when I say 'Miley', it must sound like 'Molly'. You're not allowed to say Molly on the radio, so it obviously says Miley. I knew people were gonna wonder what I'm saying in that song."

She added: "People refer to [cocaine] as 'Miley Cyrus'. My name is used in hip-hop songs to mean that, so even if I'm saying 'Miley', people could still  find something wrong with it."
