Shawn Mendes on songwriting with 5H's Camila

Canadian heartthrob Shawn Mendes has revealed that writing 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' with Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello was a great experience and it made their friendship stronger.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw, the young sensation admitted that songwriting with another music star helps to form an unbreakable and close bond because it's such an intimate thing to do:

"Camila and I have always been the closest since way back during the Austin Mahone tour. We were just hanging out - we weren't planning on writing a song - but then we wrote a song. It's easier... you get distracted, but you feel like you can say anything, which is a lot better."

He added that writing music with a friend is just a fantastic thing to do: "I always say that if you want to become really good friends with someone, songwriting is one of the best ways to do it. You write a song with someone and you're like this is why this connects with me and suddenly you're best friends!"
