The Killers pull gig after five songs due to sore throat

The Killers cut short a gig in Manchester last night (November 13) after singer Brandon Flowers suffered a sore throat.

The band have also postponed tonight's (November 14) show at the same venue, the Manchester Arena.

The US group were playing the large venue last night as part of their lengthy UK arena tour but they stopped the show after only five and a half songs.

Flowers halted his band in mid-flow to apologise to the crowd, appearing somewhat unsure what to say, then walked off stage.

Manchester Evening News' Katherine Vine, who attended the gig, said: "They played 'Mr Brightside' and it sounded fine. I thought it was going to be great. But after the third song, 'Smile Like You Mean It', Brandon said that his voice had gone and that he had a Chinese remedy drink so he would take that. They started the [fifth] song but he didn't sing a lot of it and was motioning to the rest of the band that he could not carry on. They left the stage and then a bloke came out and said that the gig was cancelled."

The band meanwhile said on their web presences: "Manchester, we started something we couldn't finish and we're so, so sorry. Working on rescheduling tonight and tomorrow's shows. Will let you know new dates ASAP."
