A spokesman for The Wanted’s Max George has confirmed that the boyband star has split with Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan.

Rumours about their relationship have been circulating ever since they called off their engagement earlier this year, but a representative for the 23-year-old revealed in a statement that the pair separated several weeks ago:

''He and Michelle are no longer together.

"They have been separated for a number of weeks, but hoped to keep this a private matter.''

The news comes in the same week that George was spotted in a clinch with a mystery blonde, but his spokesman claimed that the Manchester singer was the victim:

“Max was approached and got more than he bargained for.”
