Pharrell Williams: 'I had custom Spongebob Squarepants socks made'

'Happy' hitmaker Pharrell Williams has revealed that he loves cartoon characters so much that he had a special pair of cashmere Spongebob Squarepants made.

Speaking to Us Weekly about his passion for the strange kids' character, Williams admitted that he paid for a one-off pair to be created especially for him: "I love 'Spongebob Squarepants' toe socks so much that I had a cashmere pair made. I wear Mickey Mouse slippers around the house."

He went on to add that one of his T-shirts has been taken into space, but he doesn't think he would ever like to take that trip himself: "[Astronaut] Leland Melvin took one of my Billionaire Boys Club T-shirts to space. I love [late astronomer] Carl Sagan and respect outer space so much, but in reality I wouldn't ever go there!"

While he never wants to make the journey into space, he did confess that he would happily move to Japan in the future if the opportunity arose: "I love Japanese food, especially the truffle yellowtail at Pubbelly Sushi in Miami Beach. I could live in Tokyo one day - I love that city."
