Selena Gomez on fame: 'I don't handle it as well as people think'

Singer and actress Selena Gomez has revealed that being in the spotlight is a very difficult thing and she often finds herself struggling to cope with it.

The 22-year-old beauty admitted to Into the Gloss that the past 12 months have been such a growth period for her and she has learned a lot about herself and how she handles her success and fame: "It's been such a transitional year for me - I moved out of my parents' house this year and into my own place."

Gomez confessed that she doesn't feel as though she deals with her celebrity as well as people seem to think: "Sometimes, I'll be honest, I don't handle all of this as well as people think, so it's been important to really figure out what makes me feel grounded."

She went onto add that being a female in the entertainment industry is a challenge, but she looks as it as a 'gift': "The older I get, the prouder I am to be a woman in this industry. When I was younger and running around all the time on tour, I don't think I took the time to notice how being a woman in my position is really a gift. I want to make sure I utilise all that power... All the stuff that I've been living [has] been beautiful and awkward and authentic."
