Muse's Matt Bellamy has taken to social networking site Twitter to explain the name of his newborn son. 

The rocker welcomed the birth of baby Bingham 'Bing' Hawn Bellamy with fiancée Kate Hudson on July 9 and he wrote a message to his followers on Twitter last night (July 14) that read:

"So happy! Just had a baby boy, Bingham "Bing" Hawn Bellamy. Born 7Ib 12Oz, on 9th July. Mum and baby are strong and healthy. Mum was a warrior, Bing popped out after 4.5 hours of intense pushing!"

He then decided to explain their unusual name choice, and added: "For those wondering, Bingham is my mum's maiden name and Bing Russell was Kurt's dad. Family connections all round!"
