5 Seconds of Summer have likened discovering that they are No.1 to Christmas.

The lads released their breakthrough single 'She Looks So Perfect' earlier this year and it reached No.1 in countries like the UK and Australia.

Speaking to Today, the band said they usually heard about their No.1 successes via Twitter.

Ashton Irwin said: "We look on Twitter every morning, it's what we do. And we saw that it was number one in like Australia and New Zealand and Ireland."

Luke Hemmings added: "I remember running into Ashton's room and I was like 'We're number one!'."

Irwin continued: "It was like Christmas. That was exactly what it was like."

The group's next single 'Don't Stop' meanwhile will be released on June 15.
