Billie Eilish On One of Her Career Highlights So Far

Billie Eilish claims that getting designer Oscar de la Renta to stop using fur has so far been one of the highlights of her career.

The Grammy-winner recently participated in the fifth edition of Vanity Fair's annual 'Same Interview' Q&A, which she started in 2017.

During the conversation (watch the interview below), Eilish listed her achievements from the past couple of years, which included releasing her sophomore album, receiving two further Grammys and attending the James Bond "No Time To Die" premier in the U.K. - adding that she'd never seen anything so crazy, and that she also met the Royal Family.

She also shared two other career highlights - the launch of her debut fragrance named Eilish and making designer Oscar de la Renta stop using fur, while collaborating on her Met Gala dress.

Eilish went on to speak about her experience of being a host at the Met Gala 2021, which she termed "an unbelievable opportunity". Reflecting on the "beautiful" Oscar de la Renta-made dress she wore to the event, the 19-year-old singer-songwriter recalled saying to the legendary fashion designer: "You have to stop using fur, because if you don’t, I’m not working with you."

"That was also thanks to my mum for being with me on that one and fighting for it with me," she added.

"I got Oscar de la Renta to stop using fur completely, and that was a really really big thing for me, and I hope that more brands follow along with being environmentally conscious and try to help the world instead of making it worse."

Eilish revealed that although she used to struggle with agoraphobia, she now has it under control. The anxiety disorder causes people to avoid places or situations that may trigger panic, however, she says that she no longer gets "freaked out" in public places.

"I’m starting to have an adulthood which is new for me, and very exciting, and I have had new experiences and new people and lots of love.

"My attitude used to be like, ‘I can’t go out, ya know. I can’t go here, I can’t go there," she said.

Eilish revealed that she wasn’t able to go to a park or, get food or coffee as it freaked her out, but in the last year she's opened up to it. The  singer-songwriter used to be known for her signature black and green hairdo, but she credits going blonde helped her deal with the disorder.

And she admitted that she no longer cares if people hate her. She said: "I feel a lot of pressure, but back then I was more loved — I was pretty overall loved, to be honest. And I was scared because I wanted to keep that love.

"But now tonnes of people hate me, so I’m not worried anymore. If you like me, you like me, and if you don’t, you don’t."
