Zayn Malik returns to Twitter

'One Thing' heartthrob Zayn Malik has reactivated his official Twitter account after closing it down on August 21 following an onslaught of "useless opinions" and "hate" from other users.

The star's absence from the social networking site shocked many of One Direction's devoted followers and a campaign to encourage his return was soon launched with several worldwide trending topics coming out of it.

Earlier today (August 23), Malik put his page back online and wrote a message of sincere thanks to his fans for their unwavering support through all of the ups and downs he's encountered in the past couple of years:

"Thanks for all your messages of support. I really do love all you guys, your support never ceases 2 amaze me xxx."

The boyband delighted their Directioners around the globe this afternoon by announcing that they will release a brand new single, entitled 'Live While We're Young', on September 30.
