Back in January, One Direction singer Zayn Malik was photographed with an injured hand and there were many rumours as to the cause.

He was pictured out and about with his bandmates wearing a bandage, while cuts and bruises were also visible along with significant swelling. His injuries came just after reports of him cheating on girlfriend Perrie Edwards with Australian waitress Courtney Webb.

Despite the stressful events of last month, Malik has now admitted that he actually did the damage during a snowboarding trip and explained:

"We were in the studio and decided to do a bit of skating, but the floor in here isn't the best. I fell off and the board went over my hand. It hurt so much. I was trying to do a trick and went flying. It was a bit stupid."

Reinforcing the story, fellow member Louis Tomlinson added: "It makes me cringe thinking about it."
