Selena Gomez talks new album: 'It took a year to put together'

Selena Gomez says her upcoming new album took around one year to make.

The singer and actress is due to release her second solo record 'Revival' on October 9.

The US star opened up to Radio about the writing and recording process, which allowed Gomez creative freedom.

She said: "It took a year to put the album together and it was the first time someone in my life really kinda just said 'alright it’s up to you, what do you want to do?' and I had to figure out what I wanted to say.

"Even down to picking the first single, it was very stressful. When I went to Mexico it was to remove myself from the environment and get out of my head. I ended up writing four songs there and the title of the album, which is called 'Revival'."

The record meanwhile will feature the lead single 'Good For You'.

Her full debut solo album 'Stars Dance' was released in 2013.
