Canadian singer Avril Lavigne claims her small town upbringing has kept her on the straight and narrow.

The 26-year-old divorcee, who was married to Derryck Whibley of Sum 41 for three years, told Maxim magazine that she's just not into partying – unlike a lot of her peers.

“I came from a small town and grew up in a regular home. I’ve seen a lot of people who have gone a little crazy and who are really into the Hollywood scene. I don’t really like to hang out with people like that,” she says.

In January of this year Avril wrote and recorded a song called 'Alice' for the official soundtrack of Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland'. She is currently working on her fourth studio album.
