Beyonce to star in Clint Eastwood film

Top legend Clint Eastwood will be directing Beyonce Knowles in another remake of A Star Is Born, the classic story of a drunk, self-destructive superstar whose career is eclipsed by a young female aspiring singer.

Eastwood wants to cast a musical version, inspired by the film’s 1976 account which starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson and shifted the plot from the film industry to music business.

There is speculation on who can be the other star. Studio Warner Bros hope to team Knowles with Will Smith but there are thoughts on Robert Downey Jr and Jon Hamm.

The film has already been remade twice. The first 1937 version starred Fredric March and Janet Gaynor as the ageing Hollywood actor and the young budding star. In 1954, James Mason and Judy Garland were cast as the main leads.

It is Eastwood’s first musical as a director but preserves a strong passion for music. He has already composed scores for his recent films Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby and Changeling.
