Bruno Mars matches Justin Timberlake's U.S. chart record

Crooner Bruno Mars has reached a new career milestone after bagging an impressive 5 No.1 singles on the U.S. charts, a feat which matches a record also held by Justin Timberlake.

His latest offering, 'Locked Out Of Heaven', recently made it to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned him his fifth No.1.

This achievement places Mars as the male solo artist with the most number ones on the Pop Songs chart alongside other current record holders Justin Timberlake and Nelly.

Female solo artists, on the other hand, have been more successful as the record is currently held by Katy Perry and Rihanna after topping the pop singles chart nine times each.

Mars' new record, 'Unorthodox Jukebox', recently entered the official UK Top 40 albums chart at No.1 and also earned himself a midweek No.1 with 'Locked Out Of Heaven', which he confessed was written about Hollywood actress Halle Berry.
