Coldplay's Chris Martin discusses new album with Rolling Stone

Coldplay's Chris Martin spoke to Rolling Stone about the band's album, 'Mylo Xyloto', which is set to be released on October 24.

This is the fifth studio album from the band, who have been together since 1996, and Martin says that as long as the band are together, he's happy:

"We're all between 32 and 34, I don't really care anymore about being relevant. I'm just happy to be with that group of people and we're very fired up and very focused and the people that want to enjoy our music, we love them and we welcome them. In terms of where we fit in, I don't care."

The lead singer, who is married to the actress Gwyneth Paltrow, said recently that 'Princess Of China', the band's collaboration with Rihanna, is probably his favourite part of the album. However, he can't define the sound of the album because once he completes a record, he can't listen to it:

"Once you hand it over, you can't listen to it because you just hear problems."

Brian Eno, who has produced a number of U2 albums, has taken on the role as producer on 'Mylo Xyloto' since they worked so well together on 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends', which was released in 2008.

Martin has said that Eno has taken a more hands-on approach to this album:

"Brian Eno has become, not a session musician, but a player. He loves to just stand in the circle and play with the band. So he's kind of more of a band member than producer this time, which is very fun."

The single, 'Paradise', is out now and you can catch Coldplay this December as they have announced a number of arena shows.

Tickets go on sale this Friday (September 23) at 9am for the following dates:
