David Bowie expresses joy at comeback response

David Bowie has revealed his joy at the response to his surprise comeback.

The veteran singer announced on his 66th birthday recently that he will be releasing his first album in ten years in March, with a single unleashed immediately.

News of his long-awaited comeback delighted fans and social networking websites such as Twitter were bursting at the seams with Bowie news.

In a statement on his official website, Bowie's team thanked fans for giving the singer the perfect birthday present. It reads:

"The response to the news we exclusively revealed in the small hours has been incredible and what nicer way to wish David Bowie a Happy Birthday than with all the positive responses on TV, radio, newspaper and social media sites."

It continues: "The reaction from iTune users has also been remarkable with both the album, 'The Next Day', and the single, 'Where Are We Now?', currently at #1 on the UK iTunes site."
