Dr. Dre named Forbes' highest earning musician of 2012

'The Next Episode' hitmaker Dr. Dre has been crowned this year's highest earning musician by Forbes magazine.

The rapper and producer came out at No.1 in a poll of the Top 25 and according to Forbes has earned an incredible $110 million in the past 12 months alone.

The vast majority of his income was made up from sales of his popular Beats by Dre headphones, which gave Dre a staggering $100 million before tax.

Other superstars to feature in the Top 10 include Sir Elton John at No.3 with an annual turnover of $80 million, X Factor USA judge Britney Spears at 7 with $58m, and Taylor Swift at No.8 with an impressive yearly income of $57m.

Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Beyoncé also all made the list and the full results are as follows:
