James Morrison knocks The X Factor and JLS

Singer James Morrison has hit out at acts such as JLS, claiming their manufactured success is a "weird message to give kids".

The 'You Give Me Something' singer-songwriter told the Daily Star that young people benefit from exposure to "real music" and the idea that you can audition for a show and be propelled to international superstardom isn't a good influence on the aspirations of children.

"JLS are the worst singers I’ve ever heard. I’ve heard their raw vocals in the studio and they just cannot sing, yet they’ve had multi-million selling albums. That’s a weird message to give kids. People need to keep believing in real music, yet these X Factor idiots are on the radio and that’s a downward spiral.”

He also spoke about programmes such as The X Factor and added that they just breed negativity and encourage a lazy approach to achieving ultimate goals:

"That show sends out the message that you can be famous for doing f*** all and that you can succeed even if you’re not a good singer."
