Shawn Mendes shares 'huge news' with fans

Canadian Vine sensation Shawn Mendes has been confirmed as one of the opening acts for Taylor Swift's forthcoming and highly anticipated North American stadium tour, which is in support of her new album '1989'.

The rising star took to his official Twitter page this morning (November 3) and told his 2 million followers that he can't wait for the jaunt to kick off and he's very excited to be going on the road with the 'Shake It Off' beauty:

"So you guys ready for this first bit of huge news?! So excited I'll be joining @taylorswift13 for the North American stadium dates of #The1989WorldTour! SOO COOL RIGHT?! I'm so excited!!"

The heartthrob then sent Swift a public message to share his excitement about the announcement and simply wrote: "@TaylorSwift13 you rock!" On November 10, Mendes will release the first single from his debut album and told his fans that the track is called 'Something Big'

Speaking to MTV News recently about the song, he explained that it's a personal offering and he's glad it's the first release from his record:

"The song was written on our tour bus over the summer, and it’s meant to be a very positive song about good things happening to people, I don’t want to give away too much but the title definitely describes the concept and sound of the song. When we wrote it, it just felt right because it really speaks on how things have happened so fast for me, and how in general good things can happen to anyone if they just stay positive.”
