Billy Ray Cyrus joins Bryan Adams in taking stand against anti-LGBT law

Billy Ray Cyrus has backed Bryan Adams after he cancelled a gig in Mississippi over a new anti-LGBT.

The musician pulled his show at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi on Thursday (April 14) after the state has passed the ‘Religious Liberty’ bill 1523, which is set to come into force from July.

It will allow businesses to refuse service to LGBT people on the grounds of "religious freedom".

Writing on Facebook, musician Billy Ray Cyrus showed support for Adams' move.

The father of Miley Cyrus said: "I would feel negligent to not speak up. In light of my good friend, Bryan Adams, taking a stand and my daughter having been on the ground floor of this movement, this issue is very important to me.

"As a friend and dad…I’ve witnessed this fight from the very beginning. I think everyone should be treated equal. We’ve come too far; we can’t mess this up."

The cancellation comes soon after Bruce Springsteen pulled a show in North Carolina after the state passed the 'Bathroom Bill'.

The law forces transgender people to use gender-specific restrooms.
