Nathan Sykes says drinking before performing live was the silliest mistake he has made in his career.

The singer told Digital Spy that he had some alcohol once before performing at V Festival.

He said his ability to reach the right pitch was affected.

Sykes said: "Drinking before a performance at V Festival. That wasn't ideal.

"I wasn't wasted, but I'd had a few drinks. I didn't realise that as soon as I touch alcohol, I then lose all ability to pitch."

The singer meanwhile is expected to release his debut solo album later this year.
