Robin Gibb hospitalised after emergency surgery

Robin Gibb from the Bee Gees has been hospitalised again following a sustained illness.

The star has undergone further intestinal surgery for his condition and is now recovering in hospital according to his publicist, Doug Wright. A post on his official website (March 26) explains:

"On Monday evening 26 March 2012, Robin Gibb underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot in his colon that caused perforation.”

The message went on to add that Gibb "is currently being monitored and resting in the hospital and his family are hoping for his full recovery. We ask that Robin and his family's privacy be respected during this period".

Although Gibb has never publicly disclosed the name of his illness, he revealed to the BBC earlier this year that a growth had been removed from his colon and that he was doing well.

He is also still expected to attend the Royal Philharmonic's debut performance of 'The Titanic Requiem', which he composed with his son RJ, in London on April 10.
