Actress Kirstie Alley voices support for Lady Gaga following weight gain criticism

Hollywood star Kirstie Alley has spoken out in defense of pop sensation Lady Gaga after she was recently criticised for gaining around 25lbs.

Alley is no stranger to negativity as her fluctuating waist-line has made the headlines many times over the years and she told People magazine that it's tough to be personally scrutinised:

"Most of my career I was pretty lean, so when I gained the weight, obviously people [noticed]. With [Lady Gaga], she gains [25] pounds and it becomes this huge thing."

She added that it's disgusting to think how the mentality of the entertainment industry is so focused on image, but the best way to deal with it is to be healthy:

"It’s Hollywood that is obsessed with weight. I think everyone should try to be healthy. Lean is better than not lean, but I think we send a horrible message to the world, especially to girls.”
