Little Mix: "US fans don't get our name"

Little Mix have revealed American fans "just don't get" their name at times.

The former 'X Factor' UK champions - comprising Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock - continued their US takeover yesterday (June 7) as they took to the stage on hit show Good Morning America.

The four-piece performed hits from their debut album 'DNA' for the Summer Concert Series in New York City hosted by the popular ABC series.

Little Mix - who are enjoying huge success in America after their debut album hit No.4 in the US charts - says fans in the country still get confused about their moniker.

Thirlwall said:  “I have to slow right down and speak better or they can’t understand me.”

Edwards added: “Everyone’s told us just to be ourselves.

“Although everyone understands us on the whole, there is some confusion about our actual name for anyone who’s not already a fan. People approach us and ask if we’re in a girl-group and what our name is. When we tell them Little Mix, they’re like, ‘Huh? Little what? Little mic? Spelt m-i-c?’

She continued: “And we’re like, ‘No, no – m-i-x’. It’s really hard because they just don’t get it. It’s a bit of a barrier, I guess, but otherwise we seem to be doing fine.”

Subtitles were used whenever the band’s name was mentioned on Good Morning America this week to avoid any confusion surrounding the band's name.
