Robin Thicke reveals inspiration behind 'Blurred Lines' video

Robin Thicke has been discussing the inspiration behind the video for his No. 1 hit single ‘Blurred Lines’.

In an interview with The Times, Thicke stated that he “wanted to make a Benny Hill-type video, something fun.”

He also addressed accusations that the video objectifies women by arguing: “It doesn't even look dangerous. We're the ones who look the fools [in the video]. And the women, they're not gyrating or shaking their butts or even doing any sexy dancing. It's as silly as can possibly be.”

Despite the song’s success, Robin admitted that he had reservations about releasing the video as he explained: “I still have the email I sent to my agent saying I don't think I should do it.”

However the reassurance of his wife spurred him on to air the ‘Blurred Lines’ video: “I showed it to her and all her girlfriends, and they were like, 'This is the sexiest s***! We love this!' They were all laughing and saying, 'You have got to put this out. You have to!'”

Pharrell Williams who features on ‘Blurred Lines’ also recently spoke out in defence of the video which features topless models.

‘Blurred Lines’ has been nominated for three MTV Video Music Awards including Video of the Year.
