Lea Michele speaks out for the first time since Cory Monteith's death

'Glee' beauty Lea Michele, who plays the role of Rachel Berry, has shared a post on her official Twitter page thanking fans for the support following the death of her boyfriend and co-star, Cory Monteith.

31-year-old Monteith was found dead earlier this month in a hotel room in Canada and it was confirmed that he passed away from an alcohol and heroin overdose. Michele issued a statement through a publicist, but has now directly spoken out for the first time since the tragic news broke.

Writing on the social networking site this afternoon (July 29), the singer and actress told fans: "Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart."

She also shared a personal photograph of them together (pictured above left).

Michele's original statement read: "Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she's received from family, friends and fans. Since Cory's passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them."

"They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory's family."
