Mel C 'absolutely delighted' to be promoted to judge on 'Superstar'

Spice Girl Mel C has been asked to join the judging panel on 'Superstar' for the live shows after appearing as a guest mentor recently.

She has now been given a more important role in the talent searching programme after the viewing audience took a shine to her as an initial member of the casting panel and mentor.

In an official statement, the songstress explained that she's so excited to be a permanent member of the decision-making team and can't wait to get the production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar', in which she is confirmed to play biblical disciple Mary Magdalene, on the road:

"I am absolutely delighted. It's been an incredible experience so far and I just can't wait for the nation to decide who will be playing Jesus in the amazing arena tour of the production."

A press release posted on her website (July 12) explains: "After initially being appointed as part of the casting panel and a mentor for the contestants, ITV have now asked Melanie to be a permanent judge during the live shows of 'Superstar'."

"Alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jason Donovan and Dawn French, Melanie will help decide which contestant will be playing the role of Jesus during the arena tour of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' later in the year."
