The Killers admit that they "love the Spice Girls"

Las Vegas rockers The Killers have praised both the Olympic Opening and Closing ceremonies, and even admitted that they're big fans of the Spice Girls.

Speaking to the NME, drummer Ronnie Vannucci explained that he was really 'impressed' by the two separate musical extravaganzas and was especially excited to see the 'Wannabe' girl group reunite for the occasion:

"The Opening Ceremony was the craziest thing I've ever seen. It impressed me a lot…I love the Spice Girls. I though the Muse thing was cool. The Queen thing was cool."

Frontman Brandon Flowers added that he thought the 'We Will Rock You' icon Brian May did a fantastic job with Queen: "We were backstage in Budapest trying to watch it, but we couldn't get any sound. But Brian May looked like he was owning it."

He also spoke about The Killers' brand new album, 'Battle Born', which will be released on September 17, and confessed that it was largely inspired by the band's collective experience of touring: "On this record we've taken what we've acquired from playing all these shows on the road."

"That experience and that fire I guess from playing so many live shows, and we've applied that to songwriting. I don't think we've ever done that before."
