The Wanted star Jay McGuiness has dismissed speculation that he had a quickfire wedding in the US.

The singer took to Twitter to confirm that he was "so close" to tying the knot in Las Vegas.

However, he didn't actually get that far.

McGuiness wrote: "So close to pulling a Britney lol. But she's come good in the end...

"For the askers - no I didn't get married, doesn't mean we didn't stumble to a chapel in Vegas in hastily bought suit & dress. But no wedding."

The Wanted meanwhile are currently on an indefinite hiatus following their split earlier this year.

They did, however, reunite in August to perform at Birmingham's Fusion Festival.
