The Wanted surprise Ellen DeGeneres after dedicating People's Choice win to her

Earlier this week, UK based boyband The Wanted won the Favourite Breakthrough Artist prize at the 2013 People's Choice Awards and thanked Ellen DeGeneres for her support during their acceptance speech.

Following their public praise of the TV personality, they then turned up to her show to surprise her and burst onto the set bearing bunches of flowers during a segment about the awards ceremony.

After DeGeneres recovered from the shock of seeing the lads in front of her, member Jay McGuiness explained The Wanted's dedication speech and said: "It was actually a little bit off the cuff. We were going to sing to you, but we weren't sure if we were going to pledge it and then Max, the old romantic..."

Max George continued: "Well we saw you sat there - it was a lot down to you. You gave us our first break on TV."

McGuiness then thanked DeGeneres for taking a risk by supporting them as a band and she joked: "It wasn't that big of a risk because you are all very talented, I could tell that you were going to go places and I'm happy to be a part of helping you in any way that I can."

She added: "I think you're all fantastic and what a year it's been. So congratulations and here's to another year better than that so you, again, dedicate every speech to me."
