Gary Barlow on One Direction chart competition: 'I have no chance'

Take That frontman and singer-songwriter Gary Barlow has revealed that releasing his new solo album at the same time as One Direction's new album is intimidating because the competition is overwhelming

He unveiled his new effort, entitled 'Since I Saw You Last', this morning and the 'Best Song Ever' heartthrobs also dropped 'Midnight Memories' today (November 25) so they will go head-to-head this week on the official UK Top 40. Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday about the clash of dates, Barlow explained:

"I didn’t realise I was going up against One Direction at first. When I found out I thought Jesus, I have no chance. Though to be honest I’m not worried about losing out to them. I don’t worry about things like that. My concern is I would like it to stay high in the charts until Christmas and have a good Christmas campaign. I just want to sell a few more albums than last time really."

Barlow, meanwhile, is set to head out on tour in support of his new record next year and will kick off the run of dates in Glasgow on April 2 before wrapping up the concerts with a final performance in Nottingham on April 17.
