Madonna's empowering track 'I Don't Give A' may be autobiographical

One of the songs that features on Madonna's forthcoming new album, 'MDNA', is said to be about her failed marriage to former film-maker husband Guy Ritchie. 

The track in question, strongly titled 'I Don't Give A', has been called out for its supposedly autobiographical lyrical content as the Queen of Pop sings:

"I tried to be a good girl / I tried to be your wife / Diminished myself / And I swallowed my light / I tried to become all / That you expect of me / And if it was a failure / I don't give a..."

Her agent, Liz Rosenburg, has spoken out about the cut's meaning and told New York gossip column Page 6 that Madonna often leaves her music open to interpretation and she hasn't confirmed whether or not the song is about her own experiences:

"I have not heard Madonna explain whether the lyrics are autobiographical or not. She doesn't often explain lyrics to her songs, and she did have a few writing collaborators."

 

 

 

"I can only confirm that the response from the music press who heard the album was really exciting. They seemed to love it."
