Pharrell Williams on new album title: 'It represents how unbalanced society is'

Singer and producer Pharrell Williams has revealed why he decided to name his forthcoming new album 'G I R L'.

During a post-BRITs interview with BBC Radio 1, the hitmaker explained that it's symbolic of the society we live in: "The reason why I named it 'G I R L' in capital letters is because when you look at it, it looks a little weird. And the reason why it does is because society is a little unbalanced."

Speaking about his love of women, Williams added: "Women have been so good to me over this entire career and they've done so much for my family. Everything I've ever gotten is because they've paid for [it], so they're, like, my bosses — indirectly and directly — you guys are like my bosses. So for me, I wanted to analyze that for a second."

Referring to the miracle of birth and the women that make it possible, the 'Happy' superstar mused: "We need them... Every human being has come through those silver-lined doors."

Of the album (official artwork pictured below), which is due to be released on March 3 in the UK, he confessed: "'G I R L', I think, is my best work yet."
