Blur: 'If Oasis reunite, they can support us'

Blur bassist Alex James has joked that there is a support slot waiting for Oasis if they decide to reunite.

The two bands were pitted against each other in the 1990s in the battle of the Britpop bands.

Oasis, who split in 2009, have strengthened their ties with Blur in recent years, with Liam Gallagher recently praising their song 'Lonesome Street'.

Speaking to the Independent, James quipped that if Oasis ever reconvene, they could always support Blur.

He said: "Liam's come out and said ‘Lonesome Street’ is his favourite song of the year, God bless him. And Damon and Noel are quite good friends now. So, I think, let's focus on the positives.

"It's lovely that it's got a happy ending. I hope they get back together. They can support us."

Blur released their comeback album 'The Magic Whip' earlier this year.
